Accessibility
This page says what the school does today and what it does not do yet. It claims no standard and no level, because the school has not been audited against one. Where something is in your way, it is written down here rather than left out.
Keyboard
Every button is a button and every link is a link, so tab and enter reach all of them. Nothing here is a clickable box that a keyboard cannot get to.
Focus is visible everywhere: a two pixel ring in the school's pink, held off the edge of the control so it is readable against pale surfaces. It is one rule applied to everything that can take focus.
Controls that show only a piece of art carry a written label for screen readers and for hover.
What is missing
- There is no skip link, so a keyboard reaches the navigation before the page every time.
- The mirror's own controls have not been walked end to end with a keyboard alone. Assume that surface is not there yet.
Contrast and text
Body text is near black plum on a pale pearl ground, which is a wide margin at every size the school uses.
Pink is used for buttons and the focus ring. A link inside a paragraph is underlined, not just coloured.
Nothing important is told by colour on its own. A finished lesson carries a mark as well as a tint.
What is missing
- White text on the pink button does not clear the usual bar for text that small. It is a real gap and it is on the list.
- The quietest grey line under a heading is small, and every pairing on every screen has not been measured.
- Text sizes are set in fixed pixels. Page zoom works. Raising the default font size in your browser does not change the school yet.
Motion
The school moves a lot on purpose, and all of it is one switch. When your system asks for reduced motion, every transition and animation in the app is cut to nothing, including the shimmer that shows while a page loads.
Nothing on a reading page flashes or repeats. The movement is on arrival and then it stops.
What is missing
- Film on the front pages starts on its own and does not read that setting before it plays.
- Motion cannot be turned off from inside the school. It follows your system setting only.
Sound
Sound is short synthesised tones on a confirmation, a reward and the moment the camera locks. It is confirmation, never information: everything a tone marks is also on the screen.
All of it turns off in Settings, under Sound.
What is missing
- There is no volume, only on and off.
The teacher, in writing
The teacher speaks with your device's own voice, and every word it says is written on the glass at the same time. The caption is a live region, so a screen reader reads it out as it arrives.
You can turn the voice off and keep the writing. You can type your question instead of saying it out loud.
Every caption is labelled as an AI.
What is missing
- The caption clears itself after a few seconds and there is no transcript to scroll back through.
- The teacher listens in English only.
The camera
Everything that is not the mirror works without a camera. The whole school reads as text: every track, every lesson with its steps and what you need, every whole look, your progress and your bag.
The camera is asked for in words before it turns on, and your answer is recorded with the date you gave it.
What is missing
- A mirror lesson needs to see your face. There is no audio only version of it and no way to run a guide without the camera.
- The school has not been tried with a screen reader in the mirror, where the guide is drawn rather than written.
Language
The school is written in English and served in English. The teacher listens and answers in English. There is no translation yet.
What has not been tested
The school has not been used by a screen reader user. It has not been driven by voice control or by a switch. It has not been through a contrast audit across every screen, and it has not been checked against a published standard by anyone.
That is why this page names no standard. When any of it is tested, this page will say what was tested, who tested it, and the date.
